The Route Map

Accessing the sacred cave involves two established route – one originates from Lakhanpur for pilgrim travelling by road and the other from Jammu for pilgrim travelling by air or train. After Jammu pilgrim used to travel towards Kashmir for the sacred cave and upto Qazigund travel on single route. After Qazigund again route got divided into two parts one towards Pahalgam & other towards Baltal Ganderbal.

How to reach the Base Camps for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025

Pilgrims undertaking the Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2025 can begin their spiritual journey from one of two designated base camps:
Baltal and Nunwan (Pahalgam). Both routes offer unique experiences and are well-supported with facilities provided by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir.

  • Nearest Airport: Sheikh-ul-Alam International Airport, Srinagar (SXR)
  • Connectivity: Regular flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Jammu, Chandigarh, and other major cities
  • From Airport:
    • To Baltal: ~100 km (approx. 3–4 hours by road)
    • To Pahalgam: ~90 km (approx. 2.5–3 hours by road)

 By Train

  • Major Railway Station: Jammu Tawi (JAT)
  • Connectivity: Well-connected to Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, and other cities
  • From Jammu:
    • To Baltal: ~300 km (approx. 8–9 hours by road)
    • To Pahalgam: ~250 km (approx. 7–8 hours by road)
  • Note: Taxi and bus services are available from Jammu to both base camps
  • Major Railway Station: Srinagar (SINA)
  • Connectivity: As of June 2025, the Vande Bharat Express now connects Jammu Tawi and Srinagar directly. This new rail link is part of the Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project and includes engineering marvels like the Chenab Bridge (world’s highest railway arch bridge) and the Anji Khad Bridge (India’s first cable-stayed rail bridge)
  • From Srinagar:
    • To Baltal: ~100 km (approx. 3–4 hours by road)
    • To Pahalgam: ~90 km (approx. 2.5–3 hours by road)
  • Note: Taxi services are available from Srinagar to both base camps

By Road

  • From Jammu:
    • To Baltal via Srinagar and Sonamarg: ~300 km (approx. 8–9 hours by road)
    • To Pahalgam via Anantnag: ~250 km (approx. 7–8 hours by road)
  • Public Transport: JKSRTC buses, shared taxis, and private vehicles operate regularly during the Yatra season
  • Travel Advisory: Pilgrims are advised to check road conditions and weather updates before traveling
