Increase in human activity leads to increased amount of waste generation, specifically plastic waste. Scientists have expressed concerns over the accumulation of plastic and other waste on the mountain area as it is destroys the local vegetation and the valuable medicinal herbs around. In the absence of a proper scientific solid waste management system, the solid waste get piled up in the mountain valleys and is hazardous for our ecology and can lead to erosion causing landslides.
The government of Jammu & Kashmir anticipated this and acted swiftly to put in place a plan for proper sanitation and solid waste management to protect the ecologically sensitive area of Shri Amarnathji Yatra Route.
Directorate of Rural Sanitation, Department of Rural Development, Jammu & Kashmir Government, has been given the responsibility of organizing a Clean and Green Shri Amarnath JI Yatra 2025. The administration decided that this year also, Shri Amarnath JI Yatra 2025 shall be organized in a Sustainable and Zero Landfill manner.
Inspired by the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, this time emphasis is being made on these points for the implementation of Sustainable and Zero Landfill Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025:
